PPC Re-Qualification

This course meets the minimum curriculum of instruction in the training  and use of handguns as prescribed by the Superintendent of the Maryland State Police, pursuant to COMAR, SECTION 29.03.02.11 of the annotated code of Maryland.

This is a “1/2 day" course of classroom training and range re-qualification scheduled from 9am-2:30pm. The training day is planned and presented in an orderly and informative manner.  Course certificates of completion will not be issued to participants arriving late or leaving early.  To receive certification, participants must successfully demonstrate all skills, and qualify on the range with a score of at least 70 percent. 

Classroom training and range qualification materials provided are workbooks, blue simulator training guns, ear/eye protection, and targets.

MSP PPC Course Description:

This MSP PPC training course is designed as a refresher to review the legal, practical and moral application of carrying and using a handgun for self-defense. Review firearms law, legal liability and the use of deadly force. Review basic defensive shooting skills and safe handgun handling and operation.

Overview

The applicant must demonstrate the ability to safely operate the handgun and fire consistent shots at a maximum distance of 10 yds.

Live fire is required to qualify for the MSP PPC course.

Simulated or other forms of  target shooting can be used to assess and build shooting skills but cannot be used to qualify.

Qualification calibers to be used: .38/357, 9mm, .40, .45. 

The applicant is not required to own a handgun.  Contact us for firearm rental fees and ammunition purchase prices.

Prior handgun shooting experience is not required but is a benefit to the applicant.

There is no rapid fire or drawing form the holster.

There is no speed shooting or combat techniques.

Safe handgun handling and basic shooting skill is the focus of the range qualification.
